Parents for Inclusion

We are starting a new project! with the title “Families for Inclusion” aims to bring together different experiences of inclusion, and work with migrant families in order to promote their inclusion.

The school success of children is one of the biggest challenges for the EU in the coming years. Given internal mobility and increasing migration within the EU, it is not an easy task, as issues such as integration, lack of language skills or social exclusion greatly influence their school performance, participation and ultimately their inclusion.

The project consists of five entities from Germany, Italy, Hungary and Spain that will work to link early childhood development and the educational success of children through promotion in the family. The project is funded by the European Union under the EU’ s Erasmus Plus program and runs until December 31, 2023.

Each organization will work locally with migrant populations, from different cultures and backgrounds, depending on the context. Each organization, based on its own field experience, will develop a model workshop activity that will then be tested with groups of migrant families in the other partner countries.

Module 1 Parent work: Generative identification of needs and interests.
Module 2. Active Families Organizing for Inclusion
Module 3. Inclusive Families for Early Childhood.
Module 4 Families and Early Childhood Success in School
Module 5 Mothers for Inclusion Voice and Action.
Module 6. Promoting Inclusion through Parenting and Sustaining Families.

The final objective will be the elaboration of a manual of good practices for the inclusion of migrant families that will provide materials and working tools to other institutions with similar projects and to those interested in this topic throughout Europe.

The manual

The project has resulted in a valuable manual and toolkit to promote the inclusion of families and foster the school success of migrant children.

The manual has been developed with the collaboration of professionals from 5 countries, experts in migration and working with vulnerable groups, which ensures its quality and relevance for those working with migrant families. These resources are available free of charge to trainers of adults, both in formal settings such as job training, as well as in informal settings.

In addition, the materials are available in several languages, making them easily accessible and usable by a wide audience. We invite all interested parties to download the manual and explore the tools available at the link provided.

The “Manual of Good Practices for Working with Families” is especially relevant, as it offers guidelines and strategies to facilitate the integration and school success of children through intervention with their parents.

This project, which has been co-funded by the European Union, represents an important step towards a more inclusive future, where migrant families can receive the support they need to thrive in their host communities.
