Today, February 8, we celebrate the World Day of Prayer and Reflection against Human Trafficking, in memory of St. Bakhita, a universal symbol of the Church’s commitment against human trafficking. On this day we are happy to share these awareness and prevention guides against trafficking, which have been created by a group of women from their own experience within the European project Andreia.
The elaboration of these guides containing frequently asked questions and recommendations has been a very enriching process, both for the participants and for the technicians who have accompanied them. The objective was to involve project participants in the prevention of trafficking, raise awareness and provide information on risks, rights and motivate reporting.
“Three work sessions were held, in a space of trust where women freely shared their fears, experiences and the hope that this project will serve to raise awareness about trafficking,” says Ghizlane, intercultural mediator of Red Incola. Nuria, a technician from the organization, has also accompanied the process and adds “It has been hard to listen to all that these women have suffered, but I have loved participating in this project. There is still a lot to do in the field of trafficking and we will continue to look for opportunities to continue working in their fight and defense of women victims or potential victims of trafficking”.
